Ifedayo Adams Adedipe is the founding partner of Adedipe and Adedipe. He had previously worked in the law firms of Femi Olowo & Co and A.S. Young Harry before setting up his law firm in 1986 which was known as I.A. Adedipe & Co. The Firm had since become fully integrated and functional by its transformation to a partnership.
Ifedayo is a leading Senior Advocate whose expertise covers the field of litigation to legal advisory traversing several areas of the Firm’s practice which includes administrative and Constitutional Law, banking and insurance, energy and natural resources law/Environmental law, human right, Litigation, Arbitration & Dispute Resolution, Maritime and Aviation law, Matrimonial causes, devolution and inheritance, Real estate, Public policy and Government affairs.
He has over 38 years experience in litigation and has a remarkable track record of success in landmark cases spanning administrative and constitutional matters banking, debt recovery, environmental law and compensation. He was one of the lead counsel that obtained judgment against the Federal Government which led to the award of the sum of N36.5 billion, for Odi community. He was one of the solicitors that secured the sum of £55 million for the Bodo Community arising from the oil spillage by Shell, through a dint of insightful interpretation and advocacy, he was able to persuade the Federal High Court to grant a perpetual injunction against the arbitrariness of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
Ifedayo graduated from the University of Ile-Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University) where he obtained a Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB honors). He was called to the Nigerian bar in 1980 and in 2005 he was conferred with the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (an equivalent of the Queen’s Counsel) by the Nigerian Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee in 2005.
He has made several presentations at seminars and conferences on issues bordering on corruption, administrative law, ethics of the profession and evidence. He is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association, International Bar Association and Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria.
